Thank you for helping to make 2005 a phenomenal year—the Racial Justice program saw a huge increase in participants this year. Since the summer (the start of our 2006 fiscal year) we have had over 5,000 participants. A large number is due to the Paul Rusesabagina lecture held at the UA. Over the course of three months, thousands of Tucsonans took part in film screenings, discussions and volunteering. It was a great success and it could not be done without the help of all our dedicated facilitators. We hope the New Year continues to bring us great success! |

The Pima County Attorney’s office will be working with the YWCA’s anti-bullying program, Let’s Get Real. Through a grant, we will work together to continue to bring this program to middle school students in Pima County. A successful component that YWCA facilitators are helping to develop is training high school youth to be peer facilitators for the program. Sahuarita High School students in conjunction with Casa de Esperanza has jumped on board and already started facilitating Let’s Get Real at area middle schools. As the program takes off again, we will continue to need both youth and adult facilitators. Please contact Sarah if you are interested in being trained. |
