The final reports from all the schools that received Small Grants this year were due this week.  The Small Grants committee funded 11 projects this year.  The projects were amazing and several schools even sent in photos from the events.  There will be an informal meeting at the YWCA to go over the reports and make suggestions for the process next year.

SMALL GRANTS ARE FINISHED!!

Youth Committee Meets the Governor!

In April, members of the Youth Planning Committee for the Youth Forum and Small Grants were invited to meet the Governor.  The YWCA Youth Racial Justice Program was honored with the Volunteer Service Award.  We are still waiting the cool pictures taken with Governor Napolitano but we do have a couple of our own.  Congrats again to all our hard working members of the committees.  The programs would not exist without your input.

Libraries for the Future is looking to develop youth conversations in the library setting.  These conversations will be modeled after The People Speak Youth Circles developed by Brown University.  Their curriculum will be adapted to focus on Arizona youth and Arizona issues.  The planning process for this project requires focus groups with young people in Tucson.  We need facilitators who have the skill set to facilitate an hour and half long focus group discussing the possible development of youth conversations in the libraries.  If you're interested in helping to facilitate a focus group, please contact Susan Perkins (520-990-3646).  Thanks!
