Debbie Childress

Debbie Childress, now retired, is a former federal investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), where she specialized in preparing comprehensive aircraft accident reports. She also was a member of the Go-Team, as a Survival Factors Specialist. She also managed the agency’s national aviation training program, overseeing a $6 million budget. Debbie holds dual pilot ratings, and was the first female helicopter pilot for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

After she moved to Tucson to be closer to family, she worked as a teacher, teaching primary elementary students. Later in her career, she served as a nationally credentialed victim advocate for the Pima County Attorney's Office (PCAO), assisting victims on-site with crisis intervention and providing support to victims at the Superior Court, Justice Court, and most recently, Juvenile Court.

Debbie volunteers at the Juvenile Prosecutor’s office, redacting police body-worn camera footage. She enjoys traveling and attending University of Arizona sporting events and spending time with her two adult children and her pets. Inspired to investigate the local judicial system after a family member became justice involved, Debbie is passionate about advocating for incarcerated individuals, as well as correcting inadequacies in the judicial system.
